This house is a grandfathered-legal duplex. It has a basement apartment. We have lived upstairs and rented out the apartment. The rent from the apartment pays half the mortgage!! You can't find a better way to pay your mortgage, then let someone else pay it :)
The main floor living quarters is 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. There are lots of windows for light and french doors between two living areas. Everything has a new coat of paint. There is a private backyard that is mostly fenced in. The only area without a fence has lilacs growing so it really seems completely fenced in. There is a great fireplace and this house just has a lot of charm. There is a lot of parking including a two car garage.
The Main floor living area is just under 1500 square ft. There is also a laundry room and great storage room.
Located in the heart of Smithfield. This house is right next to an elementary school, and within walking distance to the Library, City offices, Police Station, gas stations, restaurants, post office, and local stores. And just a 10 minute drive to Logan for all the big box stores.

Basement Apartment
This two bedroom/one bath apartment is so easy to rent out. It is very large for a basement apartment, has decent windows, and lots and lots of storage. Most apartments just don't have much storage. We usually give one covered parking spot to the tenants renting the apartment. It includes the washer and dryer, refrigerator and stove. We have always rented it within two weeks of placing ads. There is a lot of people interested in living in this neighborhood. There is new carpet, and paint in some rooms and the stove is brand new. There is a current lease on this apartment until May of 2012. The income is $430 a month. All utilities are completely separate, so tenant is responsible for their own utilities. There is a separate water heater and furnace for the apartment as well.
You can live upstairs and pick your own neighbors that help pay the rent!! It is a great deal :)
